Re: Respect
I can only say that I am very disappointed to see a thread in which I recommend respect as a very important aspect of our lives turned into such a torrent of disrespect. It saddens me.

Respect
Note to the reader: The idea in this article is very important to me. Public personal attacks on individuals are never respectful. The personal attacks below,in response to this article, are examples of the exact opposite of what I'm talking about. I am sorry that this thread, which I offered in ho...

Suggestion for Educational Builds
Here, unedited, is the proposal I wrote in mid-August about how to do projects such as educational builds in a better fashion. Since I've been posting about what happened to it, I thought it might be good to have it up. I still think it's a good idea and would welcome any discussion. ===============...

Re: Organization, Style, and Reaping What You Sow
Kaine, I'm not sure what happened on September 29th. My proposal for how to do projects is dated August 11th. I sent it, if I recall, to Carl and Gramma about that date. I also have a note to Quite, responding to some question of hers about it, dated around October 1. Perhaps my note only got distri...

Re: Organization, Style, and Reaping What You Sow
Thanks, Grandma, You're right about the sharing. I have absolutely no doubt that everyone involved has been doing the very best they were capable of, using the best judgment they were capable of raising. In the end, an organization needs to be measured by the results it attains. NCI is a pretty good...

Organization, Style, and Reaping What You Sow
Way back in August, I proposed an approach to the board that promised to improve their ability to harness the great energy of the population, to free them from managing so many minutiae, to make Kuula a better place to be, and to improve the new citizen's experience of NCI. Things didn't work out. N...

Re: What is "democracy"?
Beverly ... and all ... I don't think most people, or even many, are challenging individuals much less saying anything bad about them. There have been hot tempers on all sides, as there always are when people care about things a lot, but not much ill will if any. I think there has been caring and op...

Re: Hierarchy, Rules, Commands ... an alternative
.To be honest, I don't really know where this comes from. People have been telling me "we should not have complex rules", and I interpret that being told "I'm afraid you're going to do that", or "I *think* you are about to do that" or "you are doing that". We...

Re: What is "democracy"?
Afon, thank you for a clear though not final answer. To feed it back, I heard "we haven't decided anything about elections now, and we may take it under consideration in the future." Quite, a new question for you: Could you please describe briefly what your role is as the board's PR person...

Re: What is "democracy"?
Quite, I read your long post just above as meaning "No, we are not going to become more democratic" and "No, we are not going to have this or future boards be elected." Is that the correct interpretation? And if it is, is this the official position of the board, or your own posit...
