Re: Lower lag
I believe that in fact mono allocates larger chunks than LSL. We might want to check this out further, as Linda seems to disagree. Certainly the reports you get, as she says, say 64. I would be inclined to live by the reports if that is all we have. I would like to have better information if anyone ...

Re: Lower lag
The issue with mono scripts is that they use 4x the memory of LSL ones. So it really only pays to use mono for scripts that are heavy processing. I have converted most of my scripts in Lexi back to LSL, except for speed-critical ones.

Re: Lower lag
Good idea, Fr. I would volunteer to help but am not logging in much lately owing to personal issues. There is a new feature for viewing scripts in the about land in V2, that may help identify ones using lots of memory etc. It is worth remembering that even idle scripts do consume memory which may be...

Re: New resident experience.
I'm sorry to hear that you had a bad experience. I would normally suggest that a new resident start with a basic building class before starting scripting, but it sounds like you had at least rezzed some prims before? I hope you won't give up because of this one bad situation. NCI people are always w...

We shape our buildings ... how do we know?
Seems to me there are lots of topics around the building notion and I thought I'd put this one in a separate thread. The point of this note is to suggest that we make assumptions about how the space is used, to give an example of an imaginary way to know more about how it's used, and to suggest that...

Re: We shape our buildings ... thoughts on remodeling ...
There's lots of good material in this thread so far. Thanks to so many people for chipping in positive ideas, and please keep it up. Here's a short list of things I'm getting: I'm sure I've missed plenty. A point of "contention" still seems to be whether everything should be totally simple...

Re: We shape our buildings ... thoughts on remodeling ...
Hi Wendi, Sorry for the odd welcome from Bev: she's quick to defend Kuula. We recognize that you're one of our "customers" and one who recommends us. Thank you for that. We respect it. I'm interested in your view primarily because it is different from mine. Now in fact, yes, it is easier t...

We shape our buildings ... thoughts on remodeling ...
We shape our buildings, and thereafter our buildings shape us. -- Winston Churchill There is an effort afoot to remodel South, and some thinking going on Beach, and perhaps other remodeling ideas going around. I'd like to inject what I think is a different viewpoint on how to think about remodeling...

Re: On Supporting viewers
Loris: It is not possible to specify complex human behavior using rules. It just doesn't work very well at all. Shared values work better. Our shared values are about helping. One of our key values is to be able to help. Most of our active members understand that and are here to help. If there are p...

Re: On Supporting viewers
While our focus is "new citizens", who's to say how new is new? We all do our best to answer questions of whatever kind we're equipped for. I can be very helpful with scripting, and not helpful beyond absolute basics in shirt-making. And so on. On a given day, we see viewer questions about...
