NCI Freebies shop at the Marketplace?
NCI freebies are currently available in the vendors at NCI sites. Much of the shopping and especially searching for stuff happens now at the Marketplace web stores. I was thinking of pros and cons for NCI Freebies shop at SLM Cons SLM is now free, but "Linden Lab may add new services for additi...

Re: Lower lag
I have heard that the bytecode sharing has most likely gone to the same sewer as dynamic memory allocation in Mono, but Lindens havnt said anything specific about it, and only ppl who have access to the actual server computers can assess that. ...and fr43k didn't you know that some scripts still wor...

Re: Lower lag
I talked with Becky Pippen who knows things, and even though Mono uses dynamic memory allocation, and average mono script is much smaller than LSL, Lindens apparently had some problems moving the variable size virtual machines across sim borders and it's likely all Mono scripts are actually reserved...

Re: Lower lag
The issue with mono scripts is that they use 4x the memory of LSL ones. So it really only pays to use mono for scripts that are heavy processing. I have converted most of my scripts in Lexi back to LSL, except for speed-critical ones. LSL uses always 16 kB memory, Mono uses dynamic memory allocatio...

Re: We shape our buildings ... how do we know?
What app are you using for that? Your own work? That is super slick! PHP? I wannit for my site!!! DX =^-^= It's all my own app in lsl and matlab ;) It sends the encoded data to me by email in chunks that fit in mail, and i made a matlab routine to read the data and do the path clustering and image ...

Re: We shape our buildings ... how do we know?
Here's one more image, showing the distribution of visit lengths in Kuula and Dream Seeker. If you wonder why the curves are not monotonically decreasing, the avatars may move to adjacent sim and come back. The curves may have a small bias towards too short visits, since I can't have the tracker in ...

LindaTrafficAnalyser_collage_DS.jpg Just pretend that when you TP into an NCI location, there is some kind of invisible ink on the TP point, that gets on your feet. Suppose that as you walk around, you leave footprints, and that when we turn on the ultraviolet lights, all those footprints show up. ...

Re: Are there any scripting classes in NCI that teach scripting?
Johnathan, have you checked the LL tutorial for LSL scripting? http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/LSL_Tutorial I glanced it through and it looks pretty good for beginners, explaining the concepts also. In the bottom of the page there's links to several external tutorials too. Those tutorials should be ...

How to see who can see the thread?
When deciding the forum or subforum for a post it would be useful to know whether the forum is public to all members or visible to certain user group only, but me-noob can't find that information. Control panel / Usergroups shows the members of each group but is there a way to see which groups have ...
