Re: What is "democracy"?
I understand how Beverly feels. Since Carl left, we have had to work hard to ensure that NCI continues, we lost 2 classrooms (one with no notice) and yet events and classes continued with barely a ripple, the finances had to be sorted and bills paid, adnodes and freebies are now more reliable than b...

Re: What is "democracy"?
The current board cannot make pronouncements like "No, we are not going to become more democratic" and "No, we are not going to have this or future boards be elected." as that would be pre-empting future board decisions. The current board (which was largely put in place by Carl a...

Re: Hierarchy, Rules, Commands ... an alternative

Re: Hierarchy, Rules, Commands ... an alternative
These are good points, and I would love to see NCI as a society with few basic rules (all societies need some rules) but I'd like to put some contrary points. At the Oxbridge Uni, Des was happy to trust first, anyone who asked was getting the Professor title (very similar to our LOs). I have heard o...

Re: Some Questions re. class desc., LMs, & schedule boards
Hi Wendy, 1) I try to maintain the LM notecard given out by the schedule board, and I think its up to date at the moment. 2) One of the tasks on my list is to get the class description onto the web, but at the moment things on the site are still settling. 3) I don't see any issues with getting a sch...

Re: Brecht or a forum to discuss about the forum
I think Loris, and the others she has unnecessarily scared, will not be reading this as they won't be accessing the forum. Perhaps look to a method of posting this in-world?

Re: Brecht or a forum to discuss about the forum
I think quite a few services send the password in cleartext if you lose your password. The password sent should be treated as a 'one time password' and changed immdiatly.

Re: Brecht or a forum to discuss about the forum
This forum is open to any sentient beings who may be interested in NCI and getting involved in NCI. Its not open to non sentient spambots that trawl the internet looking for open forums to dump their spam into. Thats why there is a 'complicated' registration procedure. I think all forums employ the ...
