You got 'em. We want 'em.

Totally!
Eloh Eliot has released new open-source skins. I've love someone with some talent to help us mod them ever so slightly, make clothes, hair and shoes, I can handle the shapes so that we can release new ones.
I've been dying to release some really high-end classy give away AVs for some time.

Re: Avatars.
Blast, I was hoping somebody wouldn't catch on to that so quickly. Yes, avatars are disabled for all forum-goers except me. This is for three reasons, in no particular order:
1) Server space/load. I have no way of knowing how massive these forums will get, and once I give something to people it's hard to take it away! We're on hosted serverspace so I'm playing it safe.
2) Grand Plans. It is entirely possible that down the line we can use avatars and other forum perks as rewards, or to identify groups or teams, or any number of things. I don't want to waste that ability without thinking it over first.
3) While I can say it improves usability for me to have one (everyone can recognize my posts right away, right?) really I just rewarded myself with one after getting everything working.
But! I am only one person (forum badministrator or not) so I'll certainly watch this thread if anyone wants to argue for avatars for everyone, or that I'm being super unfair and should kick my li'l turtle to the curb!

Re: Avatars.
Avs can be remote linked.
Now about server space needed, if we happen to become a very popular forum, we'd need about 2 gig space for them. ( Seen this in 2 other forums I belong to, when their sever hard crashed taking out the AV files )
To cut down on loading and space, make the AV requirements 40x40 pix, and no bigger than 50K in size.
